EMPLOYABILITY
Programme

48%

of young carers feel that their caring role has had a significant impact on their career progress

OUR EMPLOYABILITY PROGRAMME EMPOWERS YOUNG CARERS AGED 14-25 TO DREAM, AND TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS

For many young carers, the barriers they face in education don’t disappear when they reach adulthood - they follow them into the workplace. Almost half of young adult carers aged 18-25 aren’t in employment, education or training, and nearly one in two say their caring role has significantly affected their career progress.

Young carers develop an incredible skillset at a very early age, often demonstrating remarkable compassion, resilience, maturity and organisational skills. However, this is not reflected in their education or employment opportunities. These roadblocks prevent a whole generation of talented, resilient young people from realising their potential.

That’s why we created the Employability Programme. Open to young carers aged 14-25, it equips them with the tools,

experiences, and confidence they need not only to secure work, but to thrive in it. Whether through three-day offsite intensives with schools or online courses held over eight weeks, the programme combines practical workshops on CV writing, interviews, and financial skills with the chance for 1:1 coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to connect directly with supportive employers.

By blending training, guidance, and real-world experience, including placements within our incredible network of partner businesses, Employability helps young carers build the skills and self-belief needed to step into the workplace and succeed.

The results of this programme are life-changing,
as the impact shows.
